Academy stars drive Prempeh podium finish

Prempeh College’s bronze medal at the 2026 Ashanti Region Inter-Schools and Colleges Competition was powered largely by players shaped through the GFA Elite Academy.

Nearly half of the Amanfoɔ squad was drawn from the FA’s development pathway, a clear signal of its influence at school level.

Eleven academy-trained footballers were actively involved throughout the campaign, forming the spine of the team.

Those players were Asumadu Michael, Jonathan Boamah, John Kotoku, Thomas Asante, Annor Ngoah Raphael, Jamel Moomen, Stanley Benianah, Boateng Rabony, Antwi Peter, and brothers Masaponya Kweku Jnr and Masaponya Kweku Snr.

Prempeh College opened their tournament with a narrow but deserved 2-1 win against KSTS.

Their run toward the final was halted by Opoku Ware School, who edged them 1-0 in a closely fought semi-final in Kumasi.

That setback forced a playoff battle for third place.

Facing Our Lady of Grace SHS, neither side could find a breakthrough in normal time.

Prempeh College kept their composure during penalties to secure a 4-3 shootout success.

The campaign reinforced the Elite Academy’s growing reputation as a reliable pipeline for competitive school football talent.
