The Ghana Football Association has expressed optimism over Abu Francis’ recovery after the midfielder returned to gym work less than a month following a serious injury.
The 24-year-old sustained fractures to two bones during a friendly defeat to Japan in November and was forced off early in the second half.
He later underwent surgery at Toyota Memorial Hospital in Japan, sparking initial fears over a lengthy absence.
However, the speed of his rehabilitation has surprised many within Ghana’s football circles.
“Normally, it depends on the kind of surgery that takes place,” GFA Communications Director Henry Asante Twum told JoySports.
He credited the quality of medical care received by the player abroad.
“We were fortunate to get one of the best surgeons to operate on him, a very young Japanese doctor. He promised that Abu would be back very soon after the surgery.”
Francis’ early progress has boosted morale within the Black Stars camp.
The focus now shifts to his transition from gym sessions to on-field work.
