Swiss tactician Fritz Markus Schmid has expressed excitement and pride after being unveiled as the new head coach of Ghana Premier League champions Bibiani Gold Stars.
Schmid, formerly an assistant coach at English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur, was confirmed as head coach of the Bibiani-based club on Monday, December 22, tasked with leading the defending champions through a demanding campaign.
Speaking to Gold Stars TV ahead of his first match in charge against Dreams FC, the Swiss trainer described the appointment as both an honour and a major responsibility.
“I’m very excited to be here. Bibiani Gold Stars gives me the opportunity to coach in the highest league in Ghana football,” Schmid said. “To take over the defending champions in the Ghana Premier League is a big honour and also a very exciting challenge and responsibility.”
Schmid added that he is eager to begin work with the squad as he looks to build on the club’s recent success.
His debut comes against Dreams FC, with the new boss hoping to mark the start of his Gold Stars journey with a positive result.
