Exclusive: Six clubs chase attacker Jamie Leweling

Jamie Leweling, an attacking midfielder, has had a productive season, scoring five goals and assisting on two more.

With his team in turmoil, a half-dozen Bundesliga clubs (Union Berlin, Frankfurt, Mainz, Wolfsburg, Hoffenheim, Gladbach) are interested in the German born Ghanaian youngster.

Rachid Azzouzi, the manager of Furth, is aware of the attacking midfielder’s interest from other teams.

“Jamie is one of the outstanding players of his year,” he said.

Leweling made his professional debut for Greuther Furth in the 2. Bundesliga on 28 July 2019, coming on as a substitute in the 85th minute for Tobias Mohr in the home match against Erzgebirge Aue, which finished as a 0-2 loss.

Leweling is unlikely to complete his contract with Furth, which is set to expire in 2024.

Reacting to the transfer speculations Leweling said he is focused on playing football.

“I don’t want to know anything about it. In my first year, I made the mistake of diverting interest from other clubs. I just want to play football.”
