Dominic Calvert-Lewin set to leave Everton regardless of league status

Dominic Calvert-Lewin to leave Everton regardless of 2022-23 Premier League status

Everton star striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin has seemingly given word on his career plans, which apparently do not involve the Toffees after the England international has made it known he intends on leaving Goodison Park in the summer.

That report comes by way of Football Insider and makes mention of the fact that Calvert-Lewin has already expressed to friends close to him that a move to Arsenal would be his preferred next port of call in the summer.

Frustratingly for Everton is the notion that Calvert-Lewin would not view avoidance of relegation as a justifiable reason to remain on the blue half of Merseyside next season either, and seems intent on making the next step in his career with a club that harbors European aspirations next season.

But a move to Arsenal may not materialize for the Sheffield-native after the Gunners have made considerable strides in their desire to secure the services of Manchester City ace Gabriel Jesus, who has recently emerged as a prime transfer target for club technical director Edu Gaspar and manager Mikel Arteta.

Given the transfer activity beginning to boil in north London, Calvert-Lewin could also maneuver for a move to Tyneside and potential upstarts Newcastle who are likely to be on the hunt for another center-forward in the summer as they look to supply boss Eddie Howe with ample financial backing to build on the foundation he has built this season that has seen the club climb from a relegation candidate to currently sitting in the top half of the table.

Though Calvert-Lewin is said to prefer a move to Arsenal over Newcastle, should the Gunners no longer be a viable option, a switch to another ambitious club that has seemingly already outstripped Everton’s own ambitious plans could certainly materialize.
