Victim of a thigh injury on Saturday evening on the lawn of Valencia in La Liga (0-1), Jules Koundé gave his news just after the meeting.
Three weeks before the start of the World Cup in Qatar, Didier Deschamps must have had new cold sweats when he learned on Saturday evening of the FC Barcelona defender’s injury exit. The France international made way for Gerard Pique after feeling pain behind his thigh. The main interested party, however, gave reassuring news after the match. “I think it’s nothing serious, just a (muscular) overload. They should think a bit more about the players. There are a lot of matches. We are slipping down a somewhat crazy path, wanting to play so many matches… But those upstairs obviously don’t care”dropped Koundé at the microphone of DAZN.

Xavi crosses his fingers
Also questioned by the La Liga broadcaster, Xavi appeared more cautious, without being alarmist. “Koundé made a big effort to reduce recovery times because we needed him. We tried to change him when he felt muscle discomfort. Looks like it’s not an injury, it’s a big pain. We hope it’s not an injury.”said the Blaugrana coach.
The carnage for the Blues!
Koundé had already been injured in the left thigh at the end of September during a match with the Blues in the League of Nations against Austria (2-0) before returning to the lawns of La Liga in mid-October. One thing is certain, the France team has not been spared from injuries in recent weeks. While midfielder N’Golo Kanté is already forfeited for the World Cup, Paul Pogba has seen his chances of participating in this competition dwindle this week. Another part of Deschamps, Raphaël Varane also suffers from a thigh injury and will not play again before the World Cup. Lucas Hernandez is in the recovery phase with Bayern Munich.
