Man City wipe the floor with Watford, Leicester City hold stubborn Villans

Watford endured their 15th successive defeat at the hands of Manchester City, with a 5-1 thumping at the Etihad compounding their diminishing Premier League survival prospects.

City wasted no time in finding a way to score, with Gabriel Jesus dealing the opening blow after only three minutes, before the league leaders went on to smash their visitors aside with immaculate ease.

Shortly thereafter, the Brazilian headed in a second, however, the Hornets were able to give their traveling supporters something to cheer about before things turned too nasty when Hassane Kamara equalized with his first goal for the club.

Any thoughts of a spectacular comeback were swiftly dashed by Rodri’s powerful effort, which took the teams into the break level at 3-1.

Three became four straight after the break, with Jesus completing his hat-trick from the penalty spot following Ben Foster’s trip.

He then scored his fourth and City’s fifth as the hosts showed no compassion to their distressed guests.

Here are the day’s results:

  • Arsenal 3-1 Man United
  • Leicester City 0-0 Aston Villa
  • Man City 5-1 Watford
  • Norwich City 0-3 Newcastle United
