Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira has not ruled out the possibility of playing Jordan Ayew in midfield for the Premier League clash at home to Chelsea over the weekend.
The former French international has already experimented with the idea during preseason and in the 0-0 stalemate with Newcastle in the league where the Ghanaian striker played in the center of the field.
Vieira has been impressed by Ayew’s tactical flexibility and reckons it remains a viable tactical solution for him for the rest of the season.
“Jordan played that role when we went on tour so knows the responsibility of the position, and that gives me good options,” he said in pre-match press conference.
“There’s an option on the table to play him there. He was fantastic when he played there, is an intelligent player and is prepared to sacrifice himself for the team. When he went centrally that gave us really good balance.”
Chelsea travel to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace for Graham Potter’s first Premier League match in charge of the Blues on Saturday afternoon.
