Ghana’s Benjamin Tetteh risks a spell of up to six weeks on the sidelines after suffering a hamstring injury while featuring for club side Hull City last weekend.
The lanky striker, 25, limped out of the game after just 14 minutes into the Tigers’ first home defeat of the season – 2-0 defeat to Sheffield United at the MKM Stadium on Sunday.
Tetteh in stretching to try and intercept a loose Sheffield United pass immediately clutched his hamstring. Looking in obvious pain, the free-agent summer signing went down waving his hand in the air.
And after a lengthy period of treatment from Hull City’s medical staff, Tetteh was helped from the pitch.
“Yes, it’s his hamstring,” manager Shota Arveladze admitted.
“I’ve been through this for the last nine weeks and that’s the way it goes now. We have to try to fix everything and think about the next game. I cannot change much, I cannot change much, or the (fixture) calendar. The medical staff are doing their best.”
Depending on the grade of the hamstring setback, Tetteh could miss three weeks of action at the least for a minor strain. If not, he could be forced to sit out for approximately six weeks.
Benjamin Tetteh risks losing out on a place in Ghana’s squad for international friendlies with Brazil and Nicaragua later this month.
