Ghana suffered heavy defeat in their first game against United States of America at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica.

The Princesses who ended the game with 10 players lost 3-0 to the three-time World champions.

Michelle Cooper broke the deadlock of the game in the 11th minute with a powerful close range header to put USA up.

Things got worse for the Black Princesses when Jacqueline Owusu was sent off for a reckless tackle.  After 38th minutes, Alyssa Thompson doubled United States’ lead to make things difficult for Ghana.

Allyson Sentnor added the third to dash any hopes of comeback by the Princesses.

Ghana will hope to make amends in their next match against Japan on Sunday.
