EXCLUSIVE: Turkish champions Trabzonspor set to sign Ghana defender Alexander Djiku

Turkish Super Lig champions, Trabzonspor have emerged as the favorite to sign Ghana defender, Alexander Djiku this summer, Footballghana.com can exclusively confirm.

The 27-year-old was on the verge of joining German Bundesliga side, TSG 1899 Hoffenheim but the deal fell through.

Having made a return to the parent club, FC Strasbourg, Trabzonspor have emerged as the new side to secure the services of the experienced centre-back.

With the club set to play Champions League next season, the Black Sea Storm have identified the Ghanaian as a key figure who can aid their side to compete in Europe.

Stade Rennais and the Spanish side, Sevilla are also clubs that are interested in signing Djiku this summer.

Djiku scored one goal in 31 appearances for Strasbourg in the recently ended French Ligue 1 season.

The 27-year-old missed the opening games of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations due to personal reasons and he is also out of the Kirin Cup tournament.

He was a key member of the team that qualified Ghana for the 2022 World Cup.
