Ghana defender Alexander Djiku’s sublime goal for Strasbourg against AS Monaco in the Ligue 1 has been voted as the Goal of the Month for March.
The 27-year-old produced a stunning bicycle kick that sent the ball into the back of the AS Monaco net after he had received a pass from striker Kevin Gameiro.
In the remainder of the encounter, AS Monaco put up a splendid performance in a bid to find a way back into the game but the resilient performance from Strasbourg did not allow the opponent to score.
The bicycle kick was Djiku’s first goal of the season, having featured in 28 games. His performance in the game saw him win Match of the Match award and also named in the French Ligue 1 Team of the Week.
He joined Strasbourg in 2019 from Caen and has since 63 appearances for the club.
Djiku’ was part of Ghana’s team at the 2021 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon where the Black Stars exited the competition at the group stage.
After the disappoint in Cameroon, he helped Ghana qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
