Drogba had a habit of scoring important goals for Chelsea at crucial moments on the biggest stages, none more so than slotting the decisive penalty in 2012’s Champions League final to give the Blues their first-ever European Cup triumph. That win came against Bayern Munich in their back yard, and it’s a moment that will never be forgotten as it secured his place in Chelsea folklore. Almost fittingly, it was Drogba’s towering header in the 88th minute which took the contest to extra time and he was on hand again when his teammates needed him most at the death. Football teams need leaders and Didier Drogba was born to serve that role.
