Diego Simeone admits Atletico Madrid will face an improved Manchester United side when the pair clash on Wednesday night in the first leg of the Champions League last 16
United travel to Wanda Metropolitano to face Madrid and Simeone admits his side must work hard but they’re not setting any targets in this season’s Champions League.
No target
“I live from day to day, you [journalists] are the ones who assess our work,” he said at his press conference.
“We must work hard, we cannot stop to think about what we are doing because what happened yesterday is worthless. Only game by game counts.
“In any company, it is important to work together, the day to day is key. We are lucky to be at a time when we are all on the same page.”
Improved United
“I see them stronger, more compact,” he said.
“They are a top opponent with defensive strength in the air. It’s hard to find places where they make mistakes. I always prepare the matches with the best qualities of the opponent [in mind] and look for the way to hurt them.”
Team news
The Red Devils will miss the services of Edinson Cavani who is struggling with a groin injury.
