Mbella draws blank as Ishmael Addo record stays intact

Striker Frank Mbella failed to hit the target in Asante Kotoko’s 1-1 draw with Accra Lions on Saturday.

The Cameroonian was on the verge of breaking the 21-year-old record which is held by Hearts of Oak legendary center forward, Ishmael Addo.

The retired player scored 22 goals during the 2001 Ghana Premier League campaign.

Mbella scored 21 goals in his debut season which is one short of the required tally.

Meanwhile, Ashantigold SC forward Yaw Annor needs a brace or hat trick to equal or break the long-standing record when they play Bibiani Goldstars away on Sunday.
