Rayo Vallecano chief sends message to Real Madrid over Garcia interest

Rayo Vallecano chief sends message to Real Madrid over Fran Garcia interest

David Cobeno, sporting director at Rayo Vallecano, has sent a direct message to La Liga rivals Real Madrid regarding the European champions’ alleged interest in Fran Garcia.

Those of a Real persuasion will of course be well accustomed to the name of stopper Garcia.

This comes with the Blancos youth product having departed the Spanish capital on a permanent basis last summer, on the back of a successful loan stint with the aforementioned Rayo.

And Garcia has since only gone on to impress ever further, piquing attentions amongst those in a position of power at the Bernabeu.

Recent weeks have seen it widely reported across the Spanish media that Real would be interested in bringing their ex-left-back back to the club this summer, to provide cover for first-choice option Ferland Mendy.

And, as alluded to above, on Thursday, the exact demands which Florentino Perez and co. will be required to meet to push such a deal over the line have been confirmed.

Speaking during an exchange with the press a short time ago, Rayo sporting director David Cobeno was drawn on the speculation that Real are expressing a keen interest in a Garcia reunion this summer.

And Cobeno went on to confirm that any such move would set the La Liga holders back a sum of €10 million:

Garcia himself, meanwhile, has already made clear his hope of such a deal coming to fruition, having admitted during a recent interview that a move back to his former club would mark something of a career ‘dream’:

“I’m very honest and I’ve always said it,” the defender explained. “My dream would be to return, I wish I could have that opportunity, but right now I have to focus on my current team. I will give everything on the field as I’ve done before.”
