Real Madrid travel to face Valencia on Saturday aiming to maintain their winning form and strengthen their challenge for top spot in La Liga, while the hosts look to arrest a disastrous run of results.
The match takes place on 7 November 2026 as part of the 12th round of the Spanish top flight.
Valencia have collected only nine points from their opening 11 league matches this season. According to Opta, it is the third successive campaign in which they have failed to reach 10 points at this stage.
They also had nine points after 11 games in 2025-2026 and seven in 2024-2025. Before that run, Valencia had reached at least 10 points during the opening 11 matches in each of their previous 26 La Liga seasons.
Real Madrid have won their past two away games in the competition. However, they have not managed three consecutive away victories under the same manager since September 2025, when Xabi Alonso was in charge.
Valencia have spent only 109 minutes ahead in matches this season, with just Malaga, on 74 minutes, and Getafe, on 108, recording lower totals. Real Madrid lead the division in that measure with 510 minutes in front, although Barcelona are ahead of them with 816.
Real Madrid and Real Sociedad are the only sides yet to drop points after taking the lead in La Liga this season. Neither team, however, has taken a point after falling behind.
Players and managers to watch
Valencia striker Hugo Duro has scored five goals in 10 La Liga appearances against Real Madrid. That is his joint-highest total against any opponent in the competition, matching the five he has scored against Atletico Madrid.
Only Raphinha, with 15 goals, has scored more than Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe’s 12 in Europe’s five major leagues this season. Mbappe has also scored three times in each of his past two La Liga matches against Valencia.
Valencia manager Javier Aguirre has lost 14 of his 25 La Liga meetings with Real Madrid. He has won four and drawn seven of the others. The only team against whom he has suffered more defeats in the competition is Barcelona, with 19.
Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho, meanwhile, has never lost against Valencia in six La Liga meetings. His record consists of four victories and two draws.
Mourinho has not faced any other team seven or more times in the competition without losing, apart from Real Sociedad and Espanyol. He met Real Sociedad seven times, winning six and drawing one, while his seven matches against Espanyol produced five wins and two draws.
