Ghana will begin their 2026 CAF Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations campaign against hosts and defending champions Senegal after being placed in a challenging Group A.
The Black Sharks were drawn alongside Senegal, Mozambique and Uganda at the ceremony held at CAF Headquarters in Cairo, Egypt, on Wednesday, November 5, 2026.
Senegal will provide Ghana’s first opponents and the strongest test in the group. They are the most successful side in the history of the competition, having won the title seven times, and will combine hosting duties with their status as reigning champions.
Ghana booked their place at the finals by overcoming arch-rivals Nigeria 10-7 on aggregate in qualifying. The first leg ended in a 3-3 draw in Nigeria before Ghana secured progression with a 7-4 victory in Keta.
That result earned Ghana a place among Africa’s leading beach soccer nations and set up a group campaign against three different opponents. Following their meeting with Senegal, they will face Mozambique, a team that has emerged as one of the continent’s fastest-rising forces in the sport.
Uganda will be Ghana’s final opponents in the group stage.
The 2026 tournament will be staged in Senegal, with the hosts seeking to retain the title on home soil. The top two teams in each group will advance to the semi-finals.
The semi-final winners will then meet in the final and secure qualification for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.
Ghana’s last appearance at the competition came in 2024. They will now return to the continental tournament aiming to make a strong start when they face Senegal in their opening fixture.
