Ampem Darkoa Ladies can take a major step towards the semi-finals of the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League when they meet Kawempe Muslim Ladies in their second Group B match on Thursday, November 5.
The Ghanaian champions and their Ugandan opponents both opened the tournament with victories, leaving them level on three points at the top of the group.
Ampem Darkoa made an impressive start by defeating Mali’s USFAS Bamako 5-1. Kawempe Muslim Ladies then produced the biggest result of the opening round, beating defending champions AS FAR of Morocco 3-2.
The result means Thursday’s meeting is a significant contest in the race to reach the last four. Ampem Darkoa would move to six points with another victory, putting them in a strong position before their final group fixture against AS FAR.
Head coach Charles Anokye Frimpong says his technical team is reviewing detailed information on Kawempe Muslim Ladies before finalising its tactical plan and starting line-up.
The Ghanaian side’s video analyst has provided data on the Ugandan team, including an assessment of their strengths and weaknesses. Frimpong says that information will guide the preparations for the match.
“We are taking one match after the other and now we are done with Bamako. My video analyst has given me the data that we have to look into it and look at how their strongest side, the weakest side and then we see how best we can come up with some strategies and set up our team to face them,” he said.
Ampem Darkoa are appearing at the competition for the second time and will seek to carry the momentum from their emphatic opening win into the meeting with Kawempe Muslim Ladies.
Their task will be to overcome a side that has already shown it can challenge the continent’s leading clubs after eliminating AS FAR, the reigning champions, in their first Group B match.
With both teams starting on three points, the encounter offers Ampem Darkoa the chance to gain an advantage in the group before facing AS FAR in their final match.
