The 2026/27 Premier League returns this weekend with leaders Medeama SC hosting fourth-placed Aduana FC in Tarkwa, while Asante Kotoko face FC Ashanti Gold’04 in an Ashanti derby at Obuasi.
With the early title race tightening and clubs at the bottom searching for a change in fortunes, Sunday’s fixtures carry importance at both ends of the table.
Medeama and Aduana meet in Tarkwa
Medeama SC will attempt to respond to their first defeat of the season when they welcome Aduana FC to the Tarkwa and Aboso Stadium.
The Mauve and Yellow have taken 14 points from seven matches and have scored more goals than any other side in the league, with 13 so far. Aduana are one point behind them and arrive with confidence after a 1-0 victory over FC Ashanti Gold’04.
The Fire Club have conceded only four goals this season, giving them one of the division’s best defensive records. They will need that resilience against a Medeama team that has won its past seven home league matches.
Kotoko travel to Obuasi
Asante Kotoko’s visit to the Len Clay Stadium will provide another major test as they meet FC Ashanti Gold’04.
The Porcupine Warriors are seeking back-to-back league wins for the first time this season after beating Young Apostles 2-1. They have not won in three away league games, while Ashanti Gold have won each of their three home fixtures since returning to the top flight.
Only one point separates the clubs, making the derby an opportunity for both to improve their position in the standings.
Dreams still searching for first win
Dreams FC remain bottom after collecting three points from seven matches, with three draws and four defeats. They host Vision FC at the Tuba Astroturf as they continue to pursue their first league victory.
A 1-1 draw with Port City FC last weekend provided some encouragement, although Dreams must address a defence that has conceded 11 goals. Vision are also in the relegation zone and have gone five matches without a win.
Samartex face Berekum challenge
FC Samartex 1996 visit Golden City Park to play Berekum Chelsea, who are pursuing a third straight league victory.
Chelsea beat Heart of Lions 2-0 away in their previous match, while Samartex moved up to third by defeating leaders Medeama 2-1. The Timber Giants will be trying to improve a poor record in Berekum, having failed to score in each of their four previous league visits.
Other fixtures
Bechem United host newly promoted Debibi United FC at Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park in a Bono-area derby. Bechem have won all three home games despite losing narrowly to Basake Holy Stars last weekend. Debibi ended a three-match losing run by beating Gold Stars 1-0.
Newly promoted Port City FC travel to Tamale to face Karela United FC at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium. Karela lost 2-0 to Swedru All Blacks last time out but have won all three home matches this season. Port City are sixth on 11 points and are targeting an end to their two-game winless run.
Swedru All Blacks, seventh with 11 points, visit Wenchi to play Young Apostles after successive wins. Young Apostles are 17th following five defeats in seven matches, although both of their victories have come at home.
