Hearts of Oak head coach Nebojsa Kapor has warned his players not to become complacent after their 1-0 away victory over Vision FC, insisting they must show a significantly improved mentality against Basake Holy Stars.
The Phobians will face Basake Holy Stars in their Ghana Premier League week eight fixture at the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon later today, with kick-off scheduled for 17:00 GMT (5:00pm).
Hearts of Oak earned all three points in their previous match through a 1-0 win away to Vision FC. However, Kapor believes that result will count for little unless his side responds with a sharper approach in their next game.
“As I have said many times, we finished this job well against Vision, but the next step for us is the most important, and we have to face this game with a far better mentality than we had against Vision,” he said.
The Bosnian coach has also highlighted Basake Holy Stars’ home form and their ability to secure points during the ongoing campaign.
Basake Holy Stars have won matches at their home ground and collected what Kapor described as a good number of points so far. Those results have led him to regard them as a strong opponent rather than a team Hearts of Oak can expect to overcome easily.
He has therefore called on his squad to give the fixture the same level of respect they would show any challenging Ghana Premier League opponent.
“Basake won games at home ground and they collected good number of points. So far they did well. We are approaching them as a very strong opponent. We are not going to think this game will be easy game. Never. Every game here is very difficult,” he added.
