Tottenham are in advanced negotiations to sign Iliman Ndiaye from Everton, with Richarlison set to move back to Goodison Park in a separate deal.
An agreement for Ndiaye is understood to be largely in place between the two clubs, although it remains uncertain whether the 26-year-old will eventually join Tottenham. Manchester City are among the clubs monitoring the forward and have also held discussions with Liverpool over a possible move for Cody Gakpo, another player wanted by Spurs.
Liverpool would need to secure a replacement before allowing Gakpo to leave.
Everton are prepared to sell Ndiaye after he rejected several contract offers and held talks with Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal earlier this summer.
At the same time, Everton have agreed terms in principle to re-sign Richarlison, who has told Tottenham head coach Roberto de Zerbi “too many times that he wants to leave”.
The Brazil international is entering the final year of his Tottenham contract. He would offer competition to Everton’s first-choice striker Thierno Barry, while Beto’s future at Hill Dickinson Stadium remains uncertain.
The proposed moves form part of a series of interconnected Premier League transfers being negotiated before Tuesday’s deadline.
Richarlison one of three Tottenham players seeking exits
Richarlison is one of three Tottenham players De Zerbi says have asked to leave the club.
Kevin Danso and Pape Matar Sarr have also been linked with moves away from Spurs, and all three were left out of Tottenham’s squad for Saturday’s 2-0 home defeat by Newcastle.
Asked about the players after the match, De Zerbi said: “Richarlison, I don’t know. He said too many times he wants to leave.
“Danso came to me two days ago, and he said he wants to leave, and Pape Sarr the same, but he suffered a small injury, and he is almost ready to train.
“I have very good relationships, but if they want to leave, they have to bring the solution, the economic solution, to the club, and they can go.”
Tottenham have spent more than £300m this summer as they attempt to regain their competitiveness after finishing 17th in the Premier League in each of the past two seasons.
However, Spurs are bottom of the table after defeats by Brentford and Newcastle in their opening two matches. They have yet to score.
Richarlison was Tottenham’s leading scorer last season with 11 goals and played a significant role in their fight to avoid relegation, which was settled on the final day.
De Zerbi said earlier in August that the striker’s future was uncertain, adding that “it’s not easy to find another striker like Richarlison”.
Omar Marmoush joined Tottenham on loan from Manchester City last week and replaced Richarlison in De Zerbi’s starting line-up against Newcastle.
Danso, who has won 36 caps for Austria, could also find opportunities restricted this season following the arrivals of Marcos Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke in central defence. Micky van de Ven has strengthened his position after signing a new contract and being appointed captain.
Sunderland made an offer to sign Danso on loan for the season, but Tottenham rejected it.
Sarr’s prospects have been affected by Tottenham’s early-window additions of Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali. Spurs twice broke their club-record transfer fee within one week as they began an ambitious summer of recruitment.
The 23-year-old Senegal international has attracted interest from several clubs, including a number of Premier League sides and Besiktas. Juventus are understood to be confident of signing him on loan with a conditional obligation to buy.
Grealish and Tete deals also under discussion
Everton are increasingly confident of completing a loan deal for Jack Grealish from Manchester City, although the structure of the agreement remains complicated because the England international is also entering the final year of his contract at Etihad Stadium.
Grealish would prefer to return to Everton, where he spent last season on loan, rather than join boyhood club Aston Villa. Villa have also shown an interest in signing him.
Everton are also pursuing a right-back and are close to reaching a £9m agreement for Fulham’s Kenny Tete, who nearly joined the club last summer.
Fulham have started considering possible replacements and have opened talks with Rayo Vallecano over Andrei Ratiu.
Tottenham have signed eight first-team players this summer, but their unsettled squad and poor start have added urgency to the negotiations before the transfer deadline.
