Aston Villa set to close deal for 49-goal Rangers starlet

Aston Villa set to close deal for prolific 5th summer signing

Premier League outfit Aston Villa are closing on yet another summer signing, on this occasion with a view to the future, according to reports.

The Claret and Blue, of course, have taken their place front and centre in the English football headlines for several weeks now.

This comes with those in a position of power at Villa Park having evidently come to the conclusion that the club’s 14th place finish in the Premier League this past season proved some way off expectations.

In turn, a major recruitment drive has been kicked into gear, to reinforce Steven Gerrard’s ranks ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

To this point, despite the summer window having only technically swung open late last week, the Villans have closed deals for all of Philippe Coutinho, Boubacar Kamara, Diego Carlos and shot-stopper Robin Olsen.

As alluded to above, though, Gerrard and co. appear far from ready to rest on their laurels.

This comes with Villa on the verge of closing a deal for the club’s 5th summer signing, in the form of Rory Wilson.

As per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, prodigious youngster Wilson is all set to put pen to paper on terms at Villa Park, after coming to the decision to follow Steven Gerrard south of the border from Scottish giants Rangers.

An agreement on the personal terms of a contract is understood to have been found, with a transfer therefore viewed as imminent.

Wilson, a 16-year-old centre-forward, piqued widespread attentions in Scotland last season after racking up an eye-watering 49 goals at youth level.
