Samson Deen has pledged to lead efforts to secure sustainable financial and non-financial support for Ghanaian sport after becoming chairman of the newly constituted Resource Mobilisation and Partnership Committee.
Speaking at the committee’s official inauguration on 14 July 2026, Deen said its members had been given a responsibility that went well beyond a ceremonial appointment. He said the committee would work to deliver measurable results in support of the Reset Ghana Sports Agenda.
“Our acceptance of this role is a call to action,” Deen said, emphasising that the committee must justify the confidence placed in its members.
The committee’s mandate includes mobilising resources, developing credible partnerships in Ghana and abroad, identifying new avenues of support, and contributing to the rehabilitation and sustainable management of sports infrastructure.
Deen said the committee would operate through an inclusive and accountable process. It plans to engage corporate Ghana, development institutions, diplomatic missions, international sports organisations, communities and the media as it seeks to build partnerships capable of providing meaningful backing for the development of sport in the country.
He also stressed that any partnership pursued by the committee would need clearly defined objectives, transparent processes and measurable outcomes. The aim, he said, was to create lasting relationships rather than depend on short-term funding arrangements.
“Our mandate is not simply to raise money for sport. Our mandate is to build a credible system that connects talent, investment, partnerships and national opportunity,” he said.
The chairman said the committee’s performance would ultimately be judged by the resources it mobilised, the partnerships it established and the opportunities it created for athletes and other stakeholders across Ghana.
The new approach is intended to connect the country’s sporting talent with investment and wider national opportunities, while also supporting the improvement and long-term management of sports facilities.
Deen’s comments place sustainability and accountability at the centre of the committee’s work. Rather than focusing only on immediate fundraising, the body will seek to establish a network of local and international partners able to support Ghanaian sport over the longer term.
That work will involve cooperation across the private sector, development agencies, diplomatic representatives, sports organisations, local communities and media institutions. The committee is expected to use those relationships to broaden the resources available to sport and create additional avenues of support.
Deen said the committee’s members had accepted a duty to help transform Ghanaian sport and that their contribution would need to be demonstrated through practical results. Its success, he added, would not be defined by the appointment itself, but by the resources, relationships and opportunities generated for the country’s sporting community.
