Ferran Torres fuels Paris Saint-Germain transfer speculation with cautious response

Ferran Torres has increased speculation over his future by refusing to rule out a move to Paris Saint-Germain, although the Barcelona forward stressed that he remains under contract with the Catalan club.

Torres was asked about the possibility of joining Paris Saint-Germain during an interview on the Today programme, broadcast by NBC, while he was in the United States for a promotional event with sportswear company Under Armour.

The Spain international initially reaffirmed his current commitment to Barcelona when questioned about reported interest from the French club.

“At the moment, I have a contract with Barcelona,” Torres said.

However, he then added a comment that immediately attracted attention during the summer transfer period.

“But honestly, in football, no one knows what can happen.”

Those words have prompted further discussion about whether Torres could be open to a move to Paris Saint-Germain, despite his existing links with Barcelona and the absence of any indication in the interview that an agreement has been reached.

Torres’ comments came as the transfer window continues to generate speculation around players’ futures. His first response made clear that he remains contracted to Barcelona, but his subsequent remark reflected the uncertainty that often surrounds transfer business in football.

The 25-year-old forward is currently in the United States as part of Under Armour’s promotional activity. It was during that appearance that he was given the opportunity to respond to questions about his club situation and the reported interest from Paris Saint-Germain.

Rather than dismissing the possibility of a transfer, Torres pointed to the unpredictable nature of the game. His answer has therefore left room for speculation, while still offering no confirmation that he is seeking to leave Barcelona or that Paris Saint-Germain have made a formal move.

Torres has been linked with Barcelona while the transfer market is open, and his remarks are likely to attract attention because they combine a clear acknowledgement of his current contract with a more open-ended view of what might happen next.

The forward also carries international significance for Spain, having scored the goal that secured the country’s second World Cup title. That achievement remains part of his profile as discussions continue about his club future.

For now, the only certainty from Torres’ comments is that he is still a Barcelona player. His statement that “no one knows what can happen” has nevertheless left the prospect of a move to Paris Saint-Germain open to interpretation.
