Ronaldo, 41, was born and raised in Funchal, the capital of Madeira, making the location a significant choice for the Portugal captain. Rodriguez, 32, is a Spanish-Argentine model who has been in a relationship with Ronaldo since 2016.
Reports suggest the pair have also reserved a hotel close to the cathedral for the wedding reception. A source said hotel guests had been informed that two floors would be unavailable on Friday and Saturday, while several bar areas would also be closed.
“Guests at the hotel have been told that two floors will be out of bounds on Friday and Saturday, as well as several bar areas,” the source said.
The reported plans follow renewed public attention on the couple after they were photographed wearing diamond rings while boarding a yacht in Mallorca last week.
