Real Madrid push for Diomande deal as RB Leipzig winger misses Austria camp

Real Madrid are pressing to complete a deal for RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande after the young Ivory Coast international was left out of the club’s travelling party for their pre-season camp in Austria.

Diomande’s absence appears to reflect his continued desire to move to Real Madrid during the current summer transfer window. Negotiations between the two clubs remain ongoing, with the Spanish side pushing for an agreement on Saturday or, at the latest, Sunday.

According to Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sport Germany, Diomande not travelling to Austria had been the clear plan from the outset for both the player and Real Madrid. The decision has therefore added to speculation that discussions over his future could soon reach a decisive stage.

The winger’s reported illness was raised before RB Leipzig’s departure. Sky Sport Germany asked head coach Martin Demichelis whether Diomande would join the squad for the training camp, given that the team were due to fly at 17:00.

Demichelis replied: “I know it’s a big topic. Yan is really sick. We’ll see. I haven’t spoken to the doctor yet. If he is fit, he should come with us. If he is sick, he is sick.”

The comments leave the player’s condition as the official explanation for his absence, while the timing of the decision has kept attention focused on the transfer talks with Real Madrid.

Both clubs are now monitoring the coming hours, which could prove crucial to Diomande’s future. Real Madrid and RB Leipzig are continuing discussions in an attempt to reach a final agreement, with the Spanish club seeking to bring the negotiations to a conclusion as quickly as possible.

Diomande’s decision not to travel means he will remain away from Leipzig’s preparations in Austria while the two sides work towards a resolution. The outcome of those talks will determine whether the young Ivorian continues his career in Germany or moves to Real Madrid during this summer’s transfer window.

At present, no final agreement between the clubs has been reached. However, the continued negotiations, Real Madrid’s reported urgency and Diomande’s omission from the camp have made the next stage of the process particularly significant.
