Ghanaian midfielder Sebastian Bonsu-Amako has been rewarded with a two-year academy scholarship by Crystal Palace after making a strong impression during the 2025/26 season.
The scholarship will begin ahead of the 2026/27 campaign and represents the latest step in the youngster’s progress through the Premier League club’s academy.
Bonsu-Amako was eligible to play for the Under-16s last season but regularly featured for Crystal Palace’s Under-18 side, where he made 13 appearances against older players.
His performances in the centre of midfield helped persuade the club to extend his development within its academy structure. Crystal Palace were impressed by his maturity, composure and ability to perform despite competing against opponents with a higher age-group classification.
The agreement marks an important stage in Bonsu-Amako’s career as he continues to work towards professional football. He will remain within the Eagles’ youth system, with the aim of progressing through the club’s ranks and eventually challenging for a place in the first team.
For the Ghanaian youngster, the scholarship provides recognition for a rapid rise that has seen him move beyond the level at which he was eligible to compete. Rather than being limited to Under-16 football, he established himself as a regular part of the Under-18 setup during the previous season.
His 13 appearances for the Under-18s gave him regular exposure to older opposition and allowed him to continue developing in a more demanding environment. The club’s decision to offer him a two-year scholarship reflects the progress he made during that period and its intention to support his longer-term development.
Bonsu-Amako will now continue his training and education within Crystal Palace’s academy as preparations begin for the 2026/27 season. The next stage of his development will focus on maintaining his progress, building on his Under-18 experience and continuing his pursuit of senior football.
The scholarship does not represent a first-team contract, but it keeps Bonsu-Amako on the pathway towards professional football at Crystal Palace. His immediate task will be to continue progressing through the academy, while the club monitors his development after a campaign in which he performed regularly above his eligible age group.
His move into the next phase of the academy programme is therefore another significant milestone for the young midfielder. Crystal Palace now retain his services as he seeks to take further steps towards eventual involvement with the club’s first team.
