Former Ghana midfielder Laryea Kingston has called on the Ghana national football team to target a place in the knockout stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The tournament will be hosted by United States, Canada and Mexico, with Ghana placed in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia.
The Black Stars will open their campaign against Panama on June 17 before taking on England on June 23.
Their final group match will be played against Croatia on June 27.
“My expectations are simple. Ghana has a lot of respect in Africa, our mindset is not to just go and participate,” he told Graphic Sports.
“We are expected to go out there and do well, and I believe we will at least make it out of the group,” he added.
As part of their build-up to the tournament, Ghana will play friendly matches against Austria and Germany in March before a final test game against Mexico national football team in May.
Ghana will hope to qualify for the knock-out stage for the first time since 2010.
