Former Black Stars goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim believes performing well at Asante Kotoko can fast-track local players to Ghana’s senior national team.
Reflecting on his journey, he said that talent alone doesn’t guarantee success; dedication and focus are just as important.
“Playing for Kotoko increases your chances of getting a call-up, especially when you perform wholeheartedly. Nothing special, just being myself and staying focused on the work,” Ibrahim told Akoma FM.
He noted that consistent displays in the local league can put players on the national selectors’ radar.
As one of only two local-based players in Ghana’s 2022 World Cup squad, Ibrahim has firsthand experience of how local excellence can lead to international opportunities.
“Work hard every week, perform consistently, and stay disciplined. If you do that, your chance of earning a national team call-up will surely come,” he added.
There was no Kotoko player in the last international break in Asia for South Korea and Japan friendlies.
