Former Black Stars midfielder Hamza Mohammed has made a heartfelt appeal regarding rising winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku — keep him fit and let him flourish.
Speaking to 3Sports, Hamza praised the 20-year-old’s immense talent but stressed that staying injury-free will be crucial as Ghana prepares for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
“He is a great talent. We are just privileged to have such a talent on our team,” Hamza said.
“A young guy who is doing very well for himself and the country. We just pray for injury-free for him.”
The former midfielder believes Fatawu should be central to the plans of the Ghana national football team heading into the global tournament.
“I believe he should be the one that we should look for in the World Cup that we are going.
Fatawu and the likes are the future of the Black Stars. So just hope and pray for an injury-free him.”
Hamza even drew comparisons to Ghana’s legendary playmaker Abedi Pele, suggesting the youngster has the potential to reach iconic status.
“And who knows? Maybe he will be one of the Abedi Peles that we’ve never seen since the legend left the game.”
Currently shining for Leicester City Football Club, Fatawu has recorded eight goals and seven assists this season, terrorising Championship defenders with his pace, direct style, and confidence.
Yet Hamza’s message remains clear: talent alone is not enough — availability is key. As Ghana builds toward 2026, hopes rest not just on Fatawu’s brilliance, but on his fitness to deliver it on the biggest stage.
