Former Black Stars Management Committee Chairman George Afriyie has appealed to supporters to keep their expectations in check ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ghana, four-time African champions, are set for their fifth appearance on football’s biggest stage after being drawn alongside Panama, England and Croatia.
The Ghana Football Association has bolstered the team’s technical bench with new appointments in a bid to strengthen preparations.
However, Afriyie believes fresh additions alone will not automatically translate into success.
“Ghanaians should temper their expectations for the Black Stars at the World Cup,” he told Asempa FM.
“Having more hands on board doesn’t automatically improve the team’s prospects,” Afriyie added.
Among the new faces are French coach Alain Ravera and Black Queens boss Kim Lars Bjorkegren as assistant coaches.
Spanish analyst Jose Daniel Martinez Alfonso has been assigned scouting and analysis duties, while physiotherapist Carlos Lozano Romero returns to the setup.
Performance coach Dwayne Peasah Paa Kwesi also joins the revamped backroom staff.
The Black Stars will regroup in March for friendly matches against Austria and Germany as part of their build-up to the tournament.
