Medeama Sporting Club Title Cushion Shrinks as Race Tightens at the Top

Medeama Sporting Club saw their lead at the top of the Ghana Premier League reduced to just three points after a hard-fought goalless draw against FC Samartex 1996 at the Nsenkyire Arena on Sunday.

The Mauve and Yellow entered the match under pressure following a 1-1 home draw against Aduana Football Club, where captain Mubarik Yussif missed a dramatic late penalty that could have secured maximum points.

Coach Ibrahim Tanko’s side showed defensive resilience in a tightly contested tactical battle, but neither team could find a breakthrough despite creating several promising chances.

Although the result maintained Medeama’s unbeaten character on the road, the title race is now heating up. The lead that once stood at seven points has been cut to three, with 11 matches remaining in the campaign.

Chasing closely are Bibiani Gold Stars Football Club, who have surged into second place with 42 points — setting up an exciting finish to the season as the championship battle intensifies.
