“My Favourite Camp Ever” – Salah Reveals the Spirit Powering Egypt’s AFCON Push

Mohamed Salah could scarcely have picked a better moment to sum up the mood within the Egyptian camp at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Fresh from a man-of-the-match performance that inspired the Pharaohs to a crucial quarter-final victory over Côte d’Ivoire, the Egyptian captain offered a revealing glimpse into a squad brimming with unity, belief and collective purpose as the tournament enters its decisive phase.

“This has been my favourite camp ever,” Salah said. “The players are all close, the comedy is non-stop. We’re fighting for each other to win the title.”

Those words mirrored Egypt’s display on the pitch. Against a dangerous Ivorian side, Salah led from the front—delivering when it mattered most with a goal and an assist, while setting the tone with his intensity, authority and quality.

Yet beyond the decisive moments, it was Egypt’s togetherness that stood out. The cohesion, sacrifice and shared hunger on display echoed the defining traits of past AFCON-winning teams, reinforcing the sense that this group is building something special.

Salah also reserved praise for the tournament hosts, commending Morocco for the high standards on and off the field.

“I also praise the organisation here in Morocco,” he added. “Everything is of the highest level, security included.”

As AFCON 2025 unfolds, Egypt appear to be peaking at exactly the right time. A united dressing room, elite hosting conditions and a captain performing at the height of his powers combine to form a compelling title challenge.
