Morocco and Senegal have joined the last four of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after securing hard-fought quarter-final victories on Friday, setting the stage for a thrilling conclusion to the tournament.
Senegal were the first to progress, edging Mali 1–0 in a fiercely contested West African derby. Iliman Ndiaye scored the decisive goal in the first half, and the Teranga Lions defended resolutely to secure their semi-final berth.
Later on Friday, host nation Morocco overcame Cameroon 2–0, keeping their title hopes alive and maintaining strong home support momentum heading into the knockout stages.
Saturday’s quarter-finals added two more semi-finalists. Nigeria stunned Algeria 2–0, with goals from Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams sealing their place in the last four. The Super Eagles will now face hosts Morocco in a blockbuster semi-final showdown.
In the final quarter-final clash, Egypt recorded a thrilling 3–2 victory over defending champions Côte d’Ivoire at the Adrar Stadium. Omar Marmoush opened the scoring for the Pharaohs before Rami Rabia doubled the advantage. A first-half own goal by Ahmed Abou El Fotouh made it 2–1, and Mohamed Salah extended Egypt’s lead after the break. Côte d’Ivoire’s Guela Doué pulled one back late, but the Pharaohs held on to book a semi-final meeting with Senegal at the Tangier Grand Stadium.
