Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren has described Ghana’s narrow loss to England as a positive step, highlighting the team’s continued rise on the global stage.

Following a successful 2023 that saw the Black Queens claim a WFCON bronze medal and secure Olympic qualification, the recent friendly against England offered a stern but valuable test.

“It was one of the toughest games you can play,” Bjorkegren admitted, “but it showed that, OK, we’re not England yet, but we’re getting closer.” He described the match as a “unique, great opportunity” for players to understand the standards of world-class football.

The coach praised his squad’s resilience, noting they “stayed in the game for the whole game,” and expressed pride in both the performance and the team’s overall journey.

“Super proud of the team,” Bjorkegren added. “We felt really that we did it all together strong team spirit and fantastic support from our fans in Accra.”
