The Ghana Football Association has confirmed plans to secure a high-profile European friendly for the Black Stars as part of preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Communications Director Henry Asante Twum made the revelation after Ghana were drawn in Group L alongside England, Panama and Croatia.

Speaking to TV3, Asante Twum explained that interest from top European nations had already started even before the official draw.

“We are likely to have a highly European friendly. Even before the draw, we had received some requests from some of the big houses even before we played against South Korea and Japan. Some European teams wrote to check if we would be in a good place to play. Now, we have to look at all the possibilities and choose what will be beneficial to us.”

Ghana will begin their World Cup campaign against Panama on June 17 in Toronto, face England on June 23 in Boston, before wrapping up the group stage against Croatia on June 27 in Philadelphia.

After a group-stage exit at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the Black Stars will be hoping for a stronger run in North America.
