Tanko laments blown two-goal lead after Medeama’s 2–2 draw with Kotoko

Medeama head coach Ibrahim Tanko says his side’s inability to protect their early two-goal lead against Asante Kotoko was “really painful,” after the Ghana Premier League clash ended in a dramatic 2–2 draw at the Baba Yara Stadium.

The Yellow and Mauve made a blistering start, scoring inside five minutes through Derrick Fordjour before Yussif Mubarik doubled the advantage from the spot in the 18th minute.

But Kotoko mounted a spirited second-half comeback, pulling one back through Peter Amidu Acquah in the 69th minute before captain Samba O’Neil headed home a 95th-minute equaliser to rescue a point.

Tanko couldn’t hide his disappointment after seeing his team lose grip of a game they controlled early on.

“Throwing away our two-goal lead is really painful. This is football, so we have to go and work on our mistakes,” he said.

Medeama remain second on the table with 23 points  level with leaders Aduana FC  but will rue a missed opportunity to go clear at the top.
