Mohammed Salisu’s impressive performance in AS Monaco’s 2-2 draw with Pafos wasn’t enough to secure him a spot in the Champions League Matchday 5 Team of the Week.
The Ghanaian defender put in a commanding 90-minute display, completing 54 passes and registering 14 key defensive actions, earning him the Man of the Match award.
Despite his standout performance, Salisu missed out on a place in the Team of the Week.
Monaco’s draw with Pafos saw them pick up a crucial point, but it wasn’t enough to propel Salisu into the top XI.
Other notable performers in Matchday 5 include Kylian Mbappe, who netted four goals in Real Madrid’s 4-3 win over Olympiacos, and Ademola Lookman, who scored for Atalanta in their 3-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt.
The Team of the Week is a testament to the incredible talent on display in the Champions League, and it’s clear that Salisu’s performance was among the best, even if it wasn’t recognized with a spot in the top team.
