The Black Stars forward lasted less than 30 minutes at the Riverside Stadium before signalling discomfort and requesting to be substituted. Coventry went on to secure an impressive away victory, but Lampard’s focus quickly shifted to the fitness of his top scorer.
“It’s a hamstring,” Lampard confirmed after the match. “He said he didn’t feel like it was a major tear, but it tightened up on him. So it was a good thing he came off. Obviously, it’s a concern for us, and we’ll have to see how he is.”
Thomas-Asante will undergo scans to determine the severity of the injury.
