Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito says his side have only themselves to blame after wasting several clear chances in their 2-1 loss to Basake Holy Stars on Wednesday.
Reacting after the outstanding Week 3 fixture, Zito insisted Kotoko “should have won” based on their overall performance.
“Kotoko should have won this game. Seriously, we should have won this game. Once again, we squandered the chances, and they took theirs,” he said. “We didn’t play badly. We played good football, but putting the ball in the back of the net was once again the problem.”
The coach added that every opponent now approaches Kotoko with extra motivation.
“Everybody wants to beat Kotoko… This is football. We are playing at home on Sunday, and the team that leads the table is just three points ahead of us. We are still chasing.”
The defeat denied Kotoko a chance to go top of the Ghana Premier League, while Holy Stars boosted their survival hopes by moving to 10 points — just one win away from escaping the relegation zone.
