Ghanaian football fans and local associations could benefit from a major new FIFA initiative aimed at improving stadium infrastructure across developing nations.

FIFA and the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) unveiled a $1 billion program of subsidized loans to help member associations construct or renovate football stadiums.

The initiative seeks to enhance sporting facilities while supporting social and economic development in emerging football nations.

“Developing and building infrastructure is extremely, extremely important. And at the outset, I would like to thank and put on record my thanks to the Saudi Fund for Development, its CEO, and the entire team, for having made this partnership possible,” FIFA President Gianni Infantino said during the announcement in Zurich.

Infantino emphasized that the partnership is “a crucial step in ensuring our FIFA Member Associations have the facilities to make football truly global.”

Ghana, which has previously struggled with aging stadiums and limited infrastructure, stands to gain from such financial and technical support.

The announcement follows a growing FIFA-Saudi collaboration, including the country’s successful bid to host the 2034 World Cup and Aramco’s recent role as a sponsor for the 2026 edition
