Karela United snapped their poor run of form with a dramatic 3–2 win over Basake Holy Stars in a lively Ghana Premier League clash at the Aliu Mahama Stadium on Saturday.
Philip Adom, Danlad Nuhu and Eric Antwi Konadu all scored their first goals for the club as Karela battled their way back to winning ways.
Karela started with purpose and deservedly went ahead in the 21st minute when Adom finished off a smooth attacking move. They maintained control for most of the first half but carried only a 1–0 lead into the break.
The pressure resumed after the restart, and Karela finally doubled their advantage in the 62nd minute through Nuhu, who reacted quickest in a crowded box to slot home. Konadu then made it 3–0 eleven minutes later, seemingly sealing the points for the home side.
But Holy Stars refused to fold.
Prince Tweneboah punished a defensive mistake to pull one back in the 77th minute, and Richmond Somiah struck again four minutes later to set up a nervy finish.
Holy Stars pushed relentlessly for a late equaliser, but Karela held firm to claim a much-needed victory and breathe life back into their campaign.
