Ghana Football Association (GFA) communications director Henry Asante Twum says the association did everything possible to assemble a strong Black Stars squad for the international friendlies against Japan and South Korea.
Ghana lost 2-0 to Japan and 1-0 to South Korea, with many questioning the absence of key players such as Jordan Ayew, Mohammed Kudus, Thomas Partey, and Alexander Djiku.
Speaking to Sporty FM, Twum stressed that the GFA’s intention was to present the strongest team possible.
“We wanted to have all our best players available for the friendlies… On the side of the GFA, we did everything possible to assemble a good team,” he said.
Head coach Otto Addo explained that preparations were affected by injuries to Francis Abu, Mohammed Salisu, and Antoine Semenyo.
Abu underwent surgery after suffering fractures against Japan, while Salisu and Semenyo returned to their clubs for treatment.
Addo revealed that visa challenges also made it difficult to bring in replacement players but maintained that the technical team worked hard to prepare the available squad.
