Former Asante Kotoko captain Michael Akuffo has announced that he will commence his coaching internship with the Porcupine Warriors as part of his professional development.

The ex-midfielder, who is close to completing his coaching course, believes Kotoko provides the ideal platform to apply his growing knowledge and gain hands-on experience.

According to Akuffo, his choice to join Kotoko was influenced by coach Karim Zito, who once guided him during his playing days at WAFA.

“I chose Kotoko because Karim Zito coached me at WAFA. I’d like to learn from him and the other coaches as well,” he told Ghanasportspage.com.

“I will finish my coaching course in 2026 and will have my internship soon. I’ll start my internship at Kotoko this week. I’ve submitted documents and agreements have been reached. I went there last Friday for my introduction.”

Akuffo’s decision to transition into coaching marks a new phase in his football journey.

Having captained Kotoko during his playing days, he now aims to contribute from the touchline, following the footsteps of former players including Karim Zito.
