Ghana defender Jerome Opoku is in stable condition after suffering a head injury during Istanbul Basaksehir’s Turkish Super Lig clash with Kocaelispor on Friday night
The Black Stars centre-back was involved in a heavy collision with Kocaelispor forward Serdar Dursun in the ninth minute and had to be substituted in the 22nd after experiencing dizziness.
Basaksehir later confirmed that the 27-year-old is out of danger and currently undergoing standard medical checks before being discharged.
Despite Opoku’s early exit, Basaksehir went on to claim a 1–0 home victory, thanks to a late penalty converted by Uzbekistan international Eldor Shomurodov.
Opoku has been a vital figure for Basaksehir this season, featuring in eleven league games and providing one assist.
