Arsenal have confirmed that English-Ghanaian forward Michelle Agyemang will miss the rest of the 2025–26 season after suffering a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) while on international duty with England.

The 19-year-old sustained the injury during England’s 3–0 friendly win over Australia at Pride Park earlier this week and was stretchered off in visible pain after landing awkwardly.

Agyemang, currently on loan at Brighton & Hove Albion, had been enjoying a promising campaign before the setback. In a statement, Arsenal said they are working closely with Brighton to determine a treatment and recovery plan.

“We can confirm that Michelle Agyemang suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament injury while playing in England’s 3-0 win over Australia in Derby on Tuesday,” the club wrote. “The 19-year-old forward will miss the remainder of the 2025–26 season as a result of the injury.”

The England FA also pledged its full support to the young striker during her rehabilitation, while Arsenal Women posted on X:

“Wishing all the best with your recovery, Mich — we’ll be with you every step of the way ❤️.”

Reacting to the diagnosis, Agyemang shared her disappointment on Instagram but vowed to come back stronger:

“Disappointed that results show a torn ACL. Recovery starts now, I will be back stronger than before.”

The setback is a huge blow for both Brighton and England, with Agyemang widely regarded as one of the brightest emerging talents in women’s football. ACL injuries typically require several months of recovery, but Arsenal say she will receive the best medical support to ensure a full comeback.
