Black Stars head coach Otto Addo says he is unbothered by speculation over his future despite leading Ghana to qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The 49-year-old guided the Black Stars to their fifth World Cup appearance after a 1–0 victory over Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium, thanks to a first-half strike from Mohammed Kudus.
Addo’s position has been the subject of public debate, with critics questioning the team’s inconsistent displays throughout the qualifiers.
Speaking to the Ghana Football Association’s website ahead of the Comoros clash, the former Borussia Dortmund talent coach made it clear that his focus remains on making Ghanaians proud rather than worrying about job security.
“What happens after is not in my hands,” Addo said. “I hope that a lot of people, if we win, can go to America. We have to win this game. This is what we are looking at. If Ghanaians are happy, then we are happy.”
By securing qualification, Otto Addo has become the first coach in Ghana’s history to lead the Black Stars to consecutive World Cup tournaments, having also qualified the team for the 2022 edition in Qatar.
Ghana will learn their group-stage opponents for the 2026 World Cup on December 5 in Washington, D.C.
