Ghana defender Alidu Seidu has underlined the Black Stars’ determination to book a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, insisting qualification is non-negotiable.
The Rennes centre-back, who recently returned from a serious ACL injury, says the disappointment of the last Africa Cup of Nations has only strengthened the players’ resolve ahead of the final qualifying hurdles.
“Missing AFCON wasn’t just a disappointment for Ghanaians but also for the players,” Seidu admitted. “We must qualify for the World Cup.”
Ghana sit in a strong position in their qualifying group, needing just four points from their last two matches to seal a ticket to North America. With momentum building and youthful energy in the squad, Seidu is confident the Black Stars can rise to the challenge.
The 24-year-old’s return to fitness comes at a crucial time, and he is determined to play his part in steering Ghana back onto the global stage.
“The World Cup is where big football nations belong, and Ghana is one of them,” he stressed
