Bibiani GoldStars Chief Executive Officer, Akwasi Adu, remains optimistic about his side’s chances in the CAF Champions League despite a disappointing 2-0 first-leg defeat to Algeria’s JS Kabylie at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Ghanaian debutants head to Kabylie for the decisive return fixture on Sunday, September 28, needing a big turnaround to keep their continental campaign alive.
But Adu insists the team is fully prepared to fight back.
“We are equally mapping out our plans and strategies to get them [Gold Stars players] on their toes when we get to Kabylie,” he said.
He emphasized that the setback in Accra has not shaken their confidence. “We are not perturbed by the results that happened the last time. It’s still football. A club has come to score 2-0 at our home, we can equally turn around the results,” he added.
Meanwhile, head coach Frimpong Manso, who led GoldStars to their historic first league title in May, was shockingly dismissed after Saturday’s defeat at the Accra Sports Stadium.
His assistant, Nana Yaw Amankwah, will now take charge of the decisive return leg in Algeria on Sunday, September 28.
